Hertz Stuttgart Charged €515 Deposit for Minor Scratch on Citroen C5 Aircross

August 26, 2025 2:47 AM25

On August 18, 2025, I rented a Citroën C5 Aircross from the Hertz office at Stuttgart Airport in Germany. When returning the car, a small scratch appeared on the plastic part of the vehicle. We completed an accident report and informed the Hertz staff at drop-off. They told us there was no problem and did not provide us with any additional paperwork.

However, two days after returning to Turkey, my credit card was charged the entire deposit of €515 without any explanation. I was not contacted and received no documentation regarding the reason for this deduction.

The only issue was the minor scratch on the plastic, and there was no other damage to the vehicle. I still have all of my rental documents, as well as photos taken before and after the rental as proof.

Since I do not speak German or English, I have been unable to communicate directly with Hertz. I request a clear explanation in Turkish as to why my full deposit was charged, and if possible, I demand a refund of the €515 deposit.
