HDI Insurance Rejected My Child's Health Claims Over Sweating and Made Us Suffer
I took out complementary health insurance from HDI Insurance for my family of 5 including children. My children got sinusitis after a trip to the plateau; they had complaints such as runny nose and sneezing. We went to the doctor and wrote down the doctor's findings as sinusitis, nasal discharge, and night sweating due to nasal congestion for my 3.5 and 9-year-old children. HDI Insurance did not cover the tests and examinations because “sweating” was written. During the hospital crowd, the secretary lady contacted HDI Insurance and said that they wanted a petition stating that there had been no complaint of “sweating” before. I said okay, we wrote the petition and sent it, but again they refused. The secretary called again; this time they asked us to download all my child's old hospital records from e-pulse and send them as a report. At the hospital, in that crowded queue, with 3 small children, with people arguing for their turn, overwhelmed with waiting, without a computer, I will enter the e-memory, download the records, and send them to the secretary, who will send them to the HDI insurer... Thanks to the secretary lady, she stopped all the processes; we logged into my e-government on her computer, downloaded the data from e-pulse from there, even if it was difficult, and sent it. This time they said that HDI Insurance's system was locked, the submission was not going through. On the 3rd attempt, we sent it in Adobe format, we called them, and this time they said “We cannot open it, send it again”. I said, “We sent it the same way we downloaded it from the computer, as a PDF, how can they not open it?” Now everyone is getting frustrated; me, my family, the people waiting behind me, the secretary lady, everyone is complaining. I logged in on my phone, downloaded it again, asked the secretary lady, got her phone number, sent it to her on WhatsApp, and she sent it again. We called, they said, “It's under review”. Exactly one hour later they gave their approval. HDI Insurance put us through this because my child had a stuffy nose and was sweating. We said we wanted to be examined comfortably with our money, you humiliated us with our money. You made us suffer in hospitals. How can I trust you and go to the hospital? I will never get health insurance from HDI Insurance again, nor will I make anyone close to me get it. Is this your health insurance service? In that crowded hospital, I couldn't even take care of my children while they were feverish and sick. You gave me even more difficulty when I was in a difficult situation. And the reason is that my child is sweating?
They got back to me, an official apologized but mentioned that they were told something like "this is the protocol." The person who originally said it should have called me so we could discuss these so-called protocols. They can't even guarantee that this won't happen again. They don't really care if people face difficulties. I do not accept their apology. Hdi Insurance is a regret.
