They Sold a Vacation That Didn’t Exist
About three weeks ago, I booked a vacation through HalalBooking.com with reservation number 6337184 for May 30, 31, and June 1 at Watercastle Suits Hotel, paying approximately $341.
After a seven-hour trip, we arrived at the hotel around 6 p.m. on May 30 — only to discover that the hotel had never even opened. We realized this as soon as we got there: the entrance door wouldn’t open. We parked outside and were met by only one female employee, who acted as if the hotel were open, took our information, gave us a room number, and said there were no other staff members present.
When I asked why the pools weren’t open, she said they would be ready on June 1, but there was clearly no sign of that — the pools were full of frogs and algae. On the way to the room, there was construction work and loud noise right at the entrance. The room itself was dirty.
I immediately called HalalBooking and asked to cancel my reservation, trusting them because I had used their service before without any issues. The person I spoke to was polite and said they would contact the hotel management and get back to me by Monday after receiving an update.
For now, I’m still waiting for a response.
I’d like to warn HalalBooking: you need to inspect the hotels listed on your site more thoroughly. Don’t allow bookings for hotels that haven’t even opened yet.
Do not book or stay at Watercastle Suits Hotel, or cancel your reservation if you already have one.
I also plan to file a complaint with the Ministry of Tourism and will keep sharing updates about my experience with HalalBooking.
