GetYourGuide Paragliding Tour Hid Photo Fees Until After We Landed

Today at around 4:00 PM, four friends and I took part in a paragliding activity in Alanya, run by Yükay Turizm, which we had purchased through GetYourGuide. We paid a total of $306 for the activity. We didn't have any problems during the flight itself, but the moment we landed, we feel we were seriously taken advantage of because of the outrageous price demanded for photos and videos.

Before heading up the mountain, we specifically said we wanted to bring our phones with us and that we would take full responsibility for them ourselves. Despite this, and despite having already signed a waiver before the flight, we were absolutely not allowed to bring our phones with us. This left us completely dependent on the company for any photos or videos.

After landing, we were charged a total of $114 for the photos, and when we said we wouldn't accept that price, they started offering small discounts, trying to bring it down to a laughably low $42 per person. On top of that, they also wouldn't let us choose which photos we wanted from what they had taken — it was either all of them at that high price, or none at all. Before the flight, there was no information given to us — verbally or in writing — that photos and videos would be charged separately, let alone at these kinds of prices; we only found out afterward that this wasn't included in the package.

I believe this whole process reflects an approach that's both far from transparent and that pressures customers into paying high amounts after the flight, once they have no other choice. I'm requesting that Yükay Turizm and the relevant tour provider review this practice of specifically holding onto customers' phones in order to steer them toward their own paid photo service, and that they make their pricing and disclosure policy clear and reasonable. I'm also requesting an explanation regarding what we went through, and if possible, a resolution to this photo-pricing issue that favors the customer.
