Forced to Buy Unusable Flight Ticket by Etihad Airways Due to Return Ticket Policy
I purchased a flight with Etihad Airways for two people from Istanbul to Seoul, South Korea, with one stopover. At check-in, we were denied boarding because we didn’t have a return ticket. Despite explaining that we planned to travel from Korea to Japan and hadn’t finalized our return plans, they insisted we couldn’t board without a ticket. To avoid missing the flight, we were forced to hastily buy a ticket to Osaka, Japan, choosing a flexible option to change the date later.
Now in Korea, we need to move our Osaka flight earlier, but due to limited availability, we can’t change it. The ticket, for which we paid ₺7,500, is now useless. Etihad forced us into an unnecessary purchase without consideration for our situation, leaving us with extra expenses and frustration. We demand that Etihad Airways cover our transfer costs and compensate us for this unfair policy.
