Etihad Airways Claim For Compensation For Damaged Checked-in Baggage

I travelled with Etihad Airways under the name Mrs. Ruchika J***, booking reference PNR 8P6068, on flights EY217 on 3 June 2026 from New Delhi (DEL) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) and EY9 on 4 June 2026 from Abu Dhabi to Chicago O'Hare (ORD). My checked baggage was tagged with number 607 EY 621322 and had Chicago O'Hare International Airport as the final destination. Upon collecting my suitcase at Chicago O'Hare, I discovered that the lower corner of the suitcase near the wheel assembly was broken and cracked. This damage has rendered the suitcase effectively unusable and has substantially reduced its functionality, especially for onward travel. I did not have the opportunity to file a damage report at the airport, but I have now contacted Etihad by email at [email protected] regarding this issue. I kindly request reimbursement for the replacement cost of the damaged baggage, as the suitcase was in good condition prior to the flight and the damage clearly occurred during handling on Etihad-operated segments. I ask that this claim be reviewed and that I be informed of the process and documentation required so that the replacement cost can be reimbursed as soon as possible.
