Emirates Refuses Customer Support After Massive Dubai Delay Causes Missed Onward Flight
On my August 27 Manila–Dubai–Istanbul trip, my Emirates Airlines flight EK123 from Dubai to Istanbul was delayed in Dubai by 5 hours and 45 minutes. Because of this severe delay, I missed my onward Turkish Airlines flight TK2660 from Istanbul to Sivas.
After landing in Istanbul, I went to the Emirates office to request an explanation and assistance for the trouble I experienced due to the delay. However, they refused to help in any way, stating that my onward flight was not on the same ticket. Being turned away like this after a long journey—when I approached their office expecting a solution—not only disappointed me deeply but also made my situation much worse.
I also faced severe issues during the wait in Dubai. We were kept waiting in the lounge for about 3 hours total, sweltering in sweat for 2 hours because the air conditioning in the airport area was not working, and then the departure was delayed yet again by asking for an extra 45 minutes. Ultimately, I missed my Istanbul–Sivas flight, and I currently lack the financial means to afford lodging in Istanbul. I had already started this long journey with Emirates all the way from Manila, Philippines, and receiving zero support at the end of such an exhausting trip is completely unacceptable.
To resolve this issue, I demand that Emirates cover my expenses for a one-night hotel stay in Istanbul and reimburse the $122 ticket fee I paid for the missed Turkish Airlines flight TK2660 to Sivas. I want to emphasize that because of this ordeal, I will never choose Emirates again, and I will openly share this negative experience with my personal network and professional contacts.
I request that my case be reviewed and resolved as soon as possible.
