I travelled with Emirates on flight EK0306 from Dubai (DXB) to Beijing (PEK) on 4 April 2026. When I collected my checked baggage from the arrival belt in Beijing, I discovered that my medium hard-shell suitcase, which is about one year old, was badly damaged. One of the wheels was completely broken off, together with the bottom plastic section of the bag to which the wheel is attached, leaving the inside of the bag exposed. This level of damage clearly occurred during handling and has left the suitcase unusable. The flight was booked under the name Riaan Keith Whelan with booking reference IMF5QN. I did not make a report at the airport at the time, but I am now formally requesting that Emirates take responsibility for the damage and compensate me appropriately for the destroyed baggage.
