EasyJet Charged Me €70 Unfairly for My Cabin Bag
I am writing regarding an unfair baggage charge that I was required to pay during check-in for my EasyJet flight EJU7806 from Milan Linate Airport to Amsterdam on July 20, 2026.
When I purchased my tickets online, both my son and I were entitled to a cabin bag as well as a checked baggage allowance. During check-in, we handed over our medium-sized checked suitcase at the counter. However, the EasyJet agent informed us that we would also have to pay an additional fee for our cabin-sized suitcase, otherwise we would not be allowed to board the aircraft.
The short-haired female employee working at the EasyJet check-in counter in Milan insisted that our cabin bag would not be accepted unless we paid €70. Because I do not speak the local language well, I was unable to challenge this decision properly and felt pressured into making the payment.
After boarding the aircraft, I saw that other passengers were carrying cabin-sized suitcases on board without any issue. At that point, I realized that the information given to us at the check-in counter was incorrect and that we had been misled into paying an unnecessary fee.
The payment of €70 was made by contactless Mastercard at Milan Linate Airport between approximately 09:00 and 09:25 on July 20, 2026. I have retained the payment receipt as proof of the transaction.
I believe this charge was unjustified because my ticket already included the applicable baggage allowance, and I should not have been required to pay an additional fee under the circumstances described above.
I respectfully request a full refund of the €70 that I was required to pay. I also ask that this incident be investigated and that I receive a written explanation of why I was charged for baggage that I believe was already covered by my booking.
Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your prompt response and a fair resolution.
