Carl’s Jr. Worker Blocked Public Sidewalk and Attempted Physical Violence
On June 23 at around 10:30 AM, while walking on the public sidewalk directly in front of the Carl's Jr. Bahariye branch, we were subjected to aggressive and threatening behavior from a staff member. Despite being prohibited, the sidewalk was completely washed down with a hose, blocking pedestrian passage entirely. When we politely asked him to prevent water from splashing on us as we passed, he held the hose near knee height and told us to jump over it.
When we objected to his demand, this employee—a light-haired, slightly built man in his early to mid-20s—aggressively charged at both my spouse and me, shouting threats like, "I'll break you into pieces." When we asked if there was a manager inside we could file a complaint with, he claimed the store belonged to him, shouting absurdly, "This is my private sanctuary," and physically blocked us from entering the business. Even as bystanders stepped in to intervene, he continued his attempts to attack us, ignoring all warnings and remaining so aggressive that he had to be physically restrained. Washing the sidewalk like this despite the slick surface and endangering pedestrians demonstrates both a total ignorance of rules and severe anger issues.
Following directions from bystanders, municipal police (zabıta) intervened and filed an official report on the incident. I find it completely unacceptable for a corporate brand to employ someone in a public-facing role who is this aggressive, uncontrolled, and threatening. I demand that necessary disciplinary action be taken against this staff member, that security camera footage be thoroughly reviewed, and that professional psychological support and anger management counseling be mandated for this worker. Furthermore, I want this branch held accountable to follow public sidewalk rules and ensure preventative measures are put in place so a similar incident never recurs.
