Unexpected Changes to Booking.com Hotel Reservation
On Thursday, August 3, my partner and I made a reservation for 2 nights at Hotel Lux in Venice through Booking.com for the period from September 10 to 12 during our trip to Italy. Due to compelling circumstances, we had to change our travel plans for Italy and are now forced to return one day earlier.
Therefore, we wanted to reduce our originally planned stay at Hotel Lux from 2 nights to 1 night. Although we communicated our request almost a month before our trip, on August 17, to Booking.com, we received no response.
We then submitted our request again, pointing out that the hotel would still inquire and respond. However, we received a rejection from the hotel.
On August 22, we contacted Booking.com again, stating that due to this situation, we, as affected parties, find ourselves compelled to cancel the entire hotel reservation as the rejection of our request has greatly unsettled us. However, we were informed that the hotel had been contacted but did not cancel the reservation.
We feel victimized in this matter. We did not make a cancellation request until the last day; there are still weeks until the stay. Neither Booking.com is advocating for us with the hotel nor is the hotel accommodating us. Booking.com has harmed us.
We request at least, if they cannot cancel the entire booking, to cancel at least one night. Otherwise, we will be paying for a hotel we did not stay in. In addition, 7,000 TL + taxes for 2 nights were charged to our credit card.
We want our damage to be remedied. Reservation confirmation number: 3780995059.
