Booking.com Reservation Update Issue and Unauthorized Hotel Charge

There was a request from the hotel to update my reservation (Booking Number: 4113641085) through the Booking platform. On October 16, 2023, I received multiple messages and links from the hotel through the app, stating that my payment and reservation information needed to be updated within 24 hours, or else my reservation would be canceled. I performed the required update using the provided link, resulting in a charge of 176 Euros for the hotel on my card.

Yesterday, I received an email from Booking.com expressing concerns about this transaction. In response, I also addressed this suspicious payment. I relied on the security assured to me through website messages and the provided link, thus proceeded with the update. Since all actions were taken through the Booking app, I had no security concerns. All correspondence with the hotel is traceable; all actions were conducted in the message section.
