Booking.com Data Leak and Unauthorized Transaction Suspects

I received a money request for my hotel reservation confirmation via the Booking.com mobile app. Trusting the Booking.com app, I proceeded with the transaction. However, due to a suspicious location appearing on my bank statement at that time, I suspect a possible data leak from South Africa.
Booking.com's response is as follows:
'Booking.com never requests credit card or personal information over the phone or via email. All data is collected and stored through our secure online system.' 'We would never request a bank transfer that deviates from your booking conditions.' 'We always send emails from an official Booking.com address (@booking.com), and these do not contain links to any website other than Booking.com or Villas.com.'
Despite being aware of these conditions, I accepted the incoming requests through the Booking.com mobile app, believing them to be secure.
As there was evidently a security breach in the system, I am requesting compensation for the damage incurred.
