Failure Of Masterpass Campaign Discount And Payment System Failures
On the midnight of 14 May 2026, after an international trip, I used a yellow taxi through the BiTaksi application in Istanbul. Before starting the ride, I entered the Masterpass code “JOVTEYIP” and received the confirmation message “₺350 discount applied!”, yet this discount was not reflected at the time of payment. First, I tried to pay with my Masterpass-registered card in the app. The driver stated that no payment confirmation was received, so the digital transaction could not be completed. I then presented two different physical credit cards, but both the system and the driver’s terminal rejected them. As an exhausted passenger arriving at midnight with no local currency on me, I was forced to find cash due to the complete failure of your payment infrastructure, which created serious hardship and a safety concern. In the end, despite the confirmed discount, I had to pay ₺260 in cash for a ride where the app had shown a fare of ₺210 plus a ₺50 service charge. I consider this an unjust collection, as the promised Masterpass discount was not applied and no working electronic payment option was available. I have already submitted a complaint via the BiTaksi app, but I have not received any response. I categorically refuse in-app credits or promotional codes, as I am now at home in Istanbul and have no intention of using this application again. I request an immediate cash refund of the unjustly collected amount to my bank account (IBAN). If this is not resolved within 24 hours, I will file a formal complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee (TÜBİS) and escalate the issue to Mastercard Global Headquarters.
The Masterpass discount was not applied to my purchase. In addition, I was unable to make the payment using either the card registered in the app or my physical credit cards. As a result, I had to find cash late at night and ended up paying ₹260 in cash. I request a refund and compensation for the inconvenience and hardship caused by this issue.
