On January 18, 2026, at around 1:00 PM in Istanbul, I took a taxi booked through the BiTaksi app. The vehicle had license plate number 34 *** and the driver’s initials were Y.E.D. The trip lasted approximately 6.8 km and 18 minutes. Although the taximeter fare was $8, the driver charged $23 to my credit card through the in-app automatic payment system without my knowledge or consent.
After noticing the transaction, I suspected fraudulent activity on my credit card and was forced to cancel my card, which caused me both financial and emotional distress. When I later checked the BiTaksi app, I saw that the amount had been charged directly through the app by the driver, and it was clear that I had been overcharged and unfairly treated.
Following this overcharge, I contacted BiTaksi through the support section of the app and explained the situation in detail. However, I have not received any response so far, nor have I been informed that a review or refund process has been initiated.
I demand that the excess amount charged be immediately reviewed and corrected according to the actual fare, that the difference be refunded to me, and that appropriate action be taken against the driver. I also request that payment security measures and driver oversight be strengthened to prevent similar incidents from happening again, and that I be provided with written information regarding the process. Otherwise, I will pursue legal action with all supporting evidence before the Consumer Arbitration Committee, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the relevant administrative authorities.
