AJet VF 3318 – Unsafe Landing, Ticket Refund & Compensation
On January 1, 2026, the Ajet flight I purchased with flight number VF 3318 from Sabiha Gökçen to Tokat was the most unsafe flight experience of my life as a passenger. After the plane reached Tokat Airport, during the landing, it descended extremely fast and hard. As the landing gear deployed and the plane was about to touch down, it suddenly climbed back into the air. At that moment, there was great fear and panic inside the aircraft; passengers could not understand what was happening, and we felt genuinely unsafe, feeling that our lives were at risk. From my perspective, what happened cannot simply be described as a “routine go-around.” If the landing conditions at Tokat Airport were so risky that a landing could not be carried out, why was this flight not canceled in the first place? Why were passengers knowingly exposed to this risk? This question has been left unanswered following the incident.
After the plane climbed again, there was no explanation for about 30 minutes regarding where we were being directed, and passengers were left completely uncertain. Later, it became clear that we could not land in Tokat and were being diverted to Ankara Esenboğa Airport. However, neither during the flight nor afterward was any satisfactory or clear information provided. After landing in Esenboğa, we were held on the plane for about two hours. Then we were told a flight was planned for the next day. But since I had urgent matters in Tokat that could not be postponed, I could not wait and had to travel to Tokat on my own. The road trip I made in heavy snow took about seven hours. I left home at 7:00 AM and did not return until 1:00 AM, effectively losing my two days of leave.
I reported this whole process to the Ajet customer service and created case records numbered VF-725278, VF-725883, and VF-735185. I was told over the phone that my plane ticket would be automatically refunded. Despite this, only the Ankara–Tokat bus ticket and Esenboğa–AŞTİ Havaş fees were refunded, and I later received a message stating that my approximately $110 plane ticket would not be refunded, so my ticket cost was not returned. I was also not given any written information after the flight.
This experience is not a delay or a minor disruption; it directly concerns flight safety and human life. Because of the fear, uncertainty, and distress caused, I request a full refund of my plane ticket from Ajet and that my right to compensation be recognized.
