AJet Broke My Cabin Baggage That Was Forcibly Taken As Cargo

On March 1, 2026, during my AJet flight VF78 from Hamburg to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, I experienced a serious baggage issue. Before the flight, my cabin bag was forcibly taken and placed in the aircraft’s cargo hold by ground staff, who stated that this was per the pilot’s instructions. Although I clearly explained that I was in a hurry and wished to travel with my carry-on bag, my request was not considered.
After the flight, I retrieved my bag and, due to time constraints, had to leave the airport immediately. When I arrived at my destination, I noticed that my suitcase was severely damaged and completely unusable. That same day at 11:07 p.m., I contacted AJet customer service to report the issue. During the call, I was only told that I needed to submit a written complaint, and no further guidance was provided.
Although I submitted a written complaint under file number 2600030748, AJet rejected my claim on the grounds that a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) had not been filed at the airport. However, the damaged suitcase had been taken from me involuntarily and placed in the cargo hold, even though it was originally my cabin bag. Neither the ground staff nor customer service informed me about the need to file a PIR report at the time.
As this damage was not caused by passenger error, my suitcase has become completely unusable, resulting in a financial loss of approximately $60. I cannot accept AJet’s refusal to compensate me based solely on a procedural technicality, especially since the situation arose from their own handling and lack of proper information.
I am requesting immediate compensation for my damaged luggage and that my grievance be resolved without further delay.
