Unfair Airbnb Charges, Beware of Claims
I recently spent the last 3 days at an Airbnb host's property, only to be hit with an unexpected bill. While a cleaning fee of 400 TL was charged upfront, an additional 1000 TL was demanded post-checkout. Finding this demand exorbitant, I contested it, triggering a baseless damage claim. To avoid further complications, I reluctantly paid 500 TL.
It seems unfair to impose extra charges, especially when the alleged damage could be rectified within 15 minutes. What's more perplexing is the compensation claim for something we didn't do.
Upon entering, we noticed the air conditioning leaking water. This incident was apparently exploited as a pretext for the damage claim. Despite not breaking anything, they presented a photo of a shattered glass as justification. A closer look reveals the intentional nature of the glass breakage. Even if we had accidentally broken the glass, we wouldn't have left it in that state. The photos clearly show the glass intact in the first image, mysteriously shattered in the second, yet remaining on the same table in that position.
Airbnb, with evidence, noticed the deceitful actions of the host and rejected the compensation claim.
