On March 31, 2025, I made a booking via Airbnb for a stay in Gaziantep. After completing the reservation, I received a confirmation call from my bank, but since I couldn’t hear the content properly, I ended the call without approving anything. Shortly after, the host contacted me and informed me that my reservation had been canceled. They even shared a screenshot showing the cancellation. Even though I didn’t cancel it myself, I proceeded to make a second reservation for the same listing, and this time I confirmed the bank's verification call.
Later, while checking my account transactions, I noticed that Airbnb had charged me twice. I contacted my bank, and they confirmed both payments had been successfully processed and sent to Airbnb. However, Airbnb’s system still shows an error and does not reflect the duplicate payment properly.
What made this worse is that Airbnb doesn’t offer any Turkish-speaking support. I had to ask an English teacher friend to help me explain the situation to their customer service. Airbnb kept pointing fingers at the bank, while the bank clearly confirmed that both payments were made to Airbnb.
