Airbnb Won’t Refund My Seoul Booking After South Korea Denied Entry and Host Won’t Reply
We booked a property in Seoul through Airbnb, but unfortunately, we were denied entry to South Korea and had to return to our home country directly from Incheon International Airport. Since we couldn’t stay at the property at all, we requested a refund for the unused reservation.
However, Airbnb refuses to help. Their response is that they can only process a refund if the host agrees. The problem is, the host has not responded to any of my messages for the past two days. Ironically, before this, the host told me that they couldn’t issue the refund and that Airbnb had the authority to do so—which contradicts what Airbnb is now saying.
This back-and-forth has left us completely stuck. We’re being tossed between Airbnb and the host, and neither is taking responsibility. We didn’t use the property, and we’re being forced to pay for a stay that never happened due to border restrictions beyond our control.
