We rented a home through Airbnb under reservation code HMEXK2TFX5. We found the listing on the platform, reviewed the photos, and communicated with the host. The host sent us a location pin, but we had to spend a long time trying to find the place based on the shared location. After finally finding the address, the host did not arrive for quite some time, and we were only able to enter the home after waiting.
Once inside, we realized that the property did not match the photos shown in the listing. The location itself also felt unsafe and poorly secured, and it did not inspire confidence. Because my family and I did not feel safe, we decided that we wanted to cancel the reservation. The host initially agreed to the cancellation, but after we left the property, the host did not actually cancel the reservation. As a result, we were unable to get our money back.
Even though we paid a total of $81 USD, and despite multiple messages exchanged with Airbnb, we received no assistance at all. The platform clearly sided with the host and completely ignored the hardship we experienced. I have all written communications, including records showing that the host later refused to cancel the reservation.
Due to the security concerns, the property not matching the listing, and the host failing to keep their word, I am requesting that the full $81 USD I paid be refunded to me in full.
