Cancel My Academia Subscription and Refund the 3k Fee

I am writing regarding an unexpected subscription charge made by Academia.

On July 12, 2026, ₺3,000 was charged to my Türkiye İş Bankası Troy card with the transaction description "academia subscription san francıscous"* as a subscription fee.

Although I had previously started a subscription or trial with Academia, I was not clearly and transparently informed that I would be charged such a high amount if I did not cancel before the renewal date. I understood that the process would be free, and I do not believe that the renewal fee or the consequences of not canceling were presented in a sufficiently clear and prominent manner.

After discovering this charge, I felt misled because I do not recall seeing a clear confirmation screen or an obvious warning stating that ₺3,000 would be charged automatically if I failed to cancel the subscription.

For this reason, I respectfully request that the ₺3,000 subscription charge be canceled and fully refunded to my original payment method.

I also request that my subscription be terminated immediately without any additional charges or renewal fees so that no further payments are collected from my card.

Finally, I encourage Academia to make its subscription terms, renewal conditions, and pricing more transparent and understandable so that other users do not experience similar situations.

Please provide written confirmation once my subscription has been canceled and my refund has been processed.
