On August 15, 2025, an automatic payment of ₺3,000 was withdrawn from my İş Bankası credit card ending in 6995 for the renewal of my Academia.edu Premium membership, linked to the email address e*****@gmail.com**. However, I was never informed in advance about this renewal, nor was I notified of the price increase or the updated renewal terms.
When I first subscribed to Academia.edu Premium, the fee was much lower. Now, a much higher amount has been taken from my account without my consent or prior notice. This lack of transparency violates basic customer rights and has caused me financial distress.
I immediately emailed Academia.edu to resolve this issue, but I have not received any response. This is the first time such a situation has happened to me, and I expect it to be addressed urgently.
I demand that my Premium membership be canceled immediately, the ₺3,000 unauthorized renewal fee refunded, and that I receive an official confirmation email regarding the resolution of this issue. Since I have seen that other users are experiencing similar problems, I urge Academia.edu to investigate and correct this practice without delay.
