On March 28, 2026, I noticed that 3,000 TRY (approximately $94) was charged to my VakıfBank card by Academia.edu without my knowledge or consent. Previously, I had only purchased a $1 membership to try it for one month. However, after that, a yearly subscription was activated without any clear notice or explicit approval from me, and the full annual fee was charged to my card.
Even though I only intended to use the service for one month, I do not accept that a yearly subscription was started and $94 was charged without proper notification or my clear consent.
I am requesting that the $94 be refunded to my card and that this annual subscription be canceled immediately.
