Academia.edu Charged 3.000₺ Without Notice for Membership Renewal
On 14 August 2025, I discovered through my İş Bankası account that 3.000₺ had been automatically withdrawn for the renewal of my Academia.edu membership. When I first subscribed, the membership was offered at a much lower price, and I was never informed of any price increase or renewal terms beforehand. No email, notification, or reminder was sent to me regarding this payment. If I had known such a high charge would be made, I would never have continued using this service. This lack of transparency has caused me serious financial distress and frustration. I request the immediate refund of the 3.000₺ taken without my consent and the complete cancellation of my membership. I have also seen that other users have experienced similar issues, which raises concerns about recurring unfair practices. I expect Academia.edu to act responsibly, provide clear communication, and ensure that users are properly informed of renewals and fee changes. I demand prompt resolution and email confirmation once the refund and cancellation are processed.
