Unwanted WhatsApp Call From Nigerian Number Raising Security Concerns
On Friday, September 19, 2025, I received a WhatsApp call from a number with the +234 country code, which I found out belongs to Nigeria. I have no personal or business connections with this country, and the call made me very uncomfortable. I immediately blocked the number along with the message that was sent. This is the first time I have ever experienced such a situation, and I have not contacted WhatsApp support yet. So far, I have not noticed any unusual activity on my account, nor have I suffered any financial loss or personal data breach. However, for my safety, I am reporting this incident and requesting that WhatsApp take the necessary security measures to prevent such cases from happening again and to review my account for any potential risks. I also state clearly that in the event of any unauthorized use of my personal information, messages, or photos, or if any actions are taken in my name, I will not accept responsibility, and I hold WhatsApp fully accountable.
