WeChat Says You Can Verify with Bank Account, But App Forces QR Code

August 21, 2025 2:20 AM12

On the official WeChat website, it clearly states that users can verify their accounts using a bank account. However, when I try to register in the WeChat mobile app, the only verification option available is scanning a QR code from another user.

Because of this, I’m unable to complete registration and can’t use the app at all. It’s very frustrating — I’ve been trying since this morning with no success.

It’s misleading that WeChat advertises bank account verification as an option, yet it doesn’t actually appear in the app. I request that WeChat restore or enable the bank account verification feature so new users can sign up without needing another WeChat user to scan a code.
