For the past two weeks, I’ve been trying to create a WeChat account on my Redmi 14C Android phone, using the latest version of the app downloaded from Google Play Store.
All of my information and phone number are accepted successfully, but every time, the app asks me to complete “friend verification.” Unfortunately, no one around me uses WeChat, so I can’t pass this step, and I’m unable to finish creating my account.
I’ve also tried reaching out to WeChat customer support, but received no help or response. I haven’t tried another device or network, and this phone has never had a WeChat account before. I’m using the most up-to-date version of the app and haven’t made any payments.
I’m requesting that WeChat provide an alternative method of verification instead of requiring “friend verification,” or ensure that users can actually reach customer support for help completing account creation.
