Turkish Airlines Seat Count Error Caused Travel Issues
I am a victim of THY;
On 28/08, we planned a family trip to Cyprus. Upon arriving at the airport check-in, we were informed that there were only 2 seats available and my spouse's ticket was on standby, with assistance only possible during boarding. At the boarding gate, we were told that they could create a seat for us by rearranging other passengers. When we asked about our second option, we were informed that there were available seats on flight TK966 to Ercan at 16:35, and we would need to pay an additional €250 per person, covering hotel and meal expenses. We accepted this and were told to wait. After all passengers had boarded, we were informed that a seat had become available, and we proceeded through security towards the plane. However, 4 other passengers who had boarded before us were also waiting. The flight attendant stopped us (3 people) and the other 4 passengers, asking one person to disembark due to a counting error. Since we boarded last, we were directed back to security with a D1 boarding denied notice. Two hours later, we were informed that only my spouse's issue would be resolved. Additionally, our hotel transfer was canceled, and we are still waiting at the airport. Thank you, THY, for ruining our vacation before it even started. We will seek our rights.
