Turkish Airlines Refuses to Refund My Fully Refundable Ticket!
On February 20 I completed my Istanbul New York flight and wanted to cancel my New York Istanbul return flight scheduled for February 25. My ticket was in the PrimeFly class and I was clearly promised a full refund upon cancellation. However Turkish Airlines is now offering only ₺1191.64 instead of refunding the full amount of approximately ₺20000. Even their customer service confirmed that my ticket was fully refundable but they said their system displayed a lower refund amount and could not fix the issue. They asked me to submit a feedback form but THY’s response was completely arbitrary and unlawful. Due to this injustice I have officially filed a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee Complaint No 2025 0549 657. If my issue is not resolved I will take legal action in the Consumer Court and seek compensation. Additionally I will report this case to the Civil Aviation Authority SGHM and the Competition Authority. ₺20000 is equivalent to a full minimum wage salary in Turkey. THY’s practice of selling fully refundable PrimeFly tickets but then refusing to refund them is misleading and illegal. To all passengers reading this message be aware that Turkish Airlines fully refundable tickets may not be fully refundable. I demand an urgent resolution to this issue and a full refund of my ticket price. Serdar Ö***
