I had a negative experience with Turkish Airlines. On 12.03.2024, our flight faced overbooking. Despite being entitled to 50% compensation for a flight over 1500 km and under 3 hours, Turkish Airlines offered us 300₺ worth of miles. We couldn't see the seats we specifically chose and purchased for our round-trip flights in the system.
When we inquired about the situation, we were first told that the seats were not in the system, then received a response saying, 'Yes, they are in the system, but why weren't they given?' and were asked to request a refund. On the return flight, they didn't give us our seats due to overbooking and offered 300 miles again. Despite their apologies, we were only offered miles instead of the 300₺ compensation we were entitled to, and we had no option to refuse.
When I threatened to complain to civil aviation authorities, they agreed to pay the compensation. However, instead of transferring the money to my shared bank account, they created a 'gift voucher' claiming they couldn't make a payment to the bank, and sent an email stating we would need to reapply if we wanted a cash payment.
We realized the service quality was inadequate. We wanted to get in touch again, provided our bank details and previous feedback number. However, each time we received a new file number and responses like 'your file was closed because you didn't respond.' This situation is unacceptable. I urgently request a response.
