Turkish Airlines Flight Delay Compensation Issue with TJH37P Ticket
On August 7, 2023, I booked a business class flight with THY using reservation code TJH37P for the Izmir-Istanbul-Gaziantep route. Due to the delay of the Izmir-Istanbul flight, I missed my connecting flight to Gaziantep. Despite being assured at the Izmir CIP lounge that I would be met by staff in Istanbul to help me catch my next flight, no staff was there to assist me upon arrival. Consequently, I went to the CIP Lounge at Istanbul Airport. The staff at the counter informed me that I had missed my connecting flight and would have to wait for the next available flight, which unfortunately had no available seats. I had no choice but to wait due to THY's error. A female staff member, possibly named a***, told me that THY would compensate me with 50+50 euros and that I could fly in economy class on the next flight. I reluctantly accepted as I had no other option. I waited in the CIP lounge for several hours. The staff members, including a*** and a male colleague, told me to expect an email regarding the compensation. When I didn't hear back, I contacted the THY call center, where I was told I needed to file a report. This means either the counter staff lied or the call center did. I followed the call center's instructions and filed a report. I recently received an unbelievable response from THY, offering me 5000 Bonus miles instead of the promised 100 euros. They also asked for receipts for any expenses incurred while waiting, which I found absurd as I had already waited in the CIP lounge for hours. The counter staff never mentioned needing receipts; they only promised 100 euros compensation and asked me to wait for an email. I have voice recordings from the counter. If I do not receive a positive response, I will pursue legal action and request the recordings to prove who was lying. I urge THY officials to address this issue. You are misleading and causing distress to passengers by not fulfilling your compensation promises. Should I now demand written and signed documents for any promises made at the counter?
