Turkish Airlines Flight Cancellation and Hotel Arrangement Issue
On April 15, 2024, Turkish Airlines' flight TK1956 from Amsterdam to Istanbul scheduled for 23:10 was canceled due to weather conditions. The cancellation information was communicated to passengers via SMS and email at 19:41, and announcements were made at the airport. However, it was evident that Turkish Airlines, despite its international recognition and prestige, failed in managing the process effectively. According to procedures, Turkish Airlines is responsible for providing passengers with accommodation, transportation, meals, and transferring their tickets to the next available flight. After the flight cancellation was announced at 19:41, no hotel accommodations or food/water were provided to passengers until 01:30. Additionally, the disrespectful behavior of Turkish Airlines' staff at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport damaged the company's image. Some passengers had to wait for hours on their luggage or on the floor, and the insufficient explanations and scolding from the staff were unacceptable. Tensions arose among passengers due to the disrespectful and scolding behavior of a few employees, and one employee left without apologizing after the intervention of airport police. As a result of the struggle and persistence of a few passengers, Turkish Airlines was able to provide accommodation for only 15 passengers at 01:30. The staff mentioned that the expenses for accommodation, transportation, and meals, which should be covered by Turkish Airlines according to procedures, were covered by their manager. I am filing a complaint against Turkish Airlines for their lack of care for passengers, failure to provide feedback, lack of compensation, and disrespectful behavior. I will initiate all necessary legal actions.
