THY Lost Luggage Issue on Flight to Paraguay
On May 4, 2024, my spouse departed from Turkey and arrived in Paraguay on May 5. Upon arrival, one of the two suitcases belonging to my spouse was not delivered. We immediately reported the missing luggage to the local authorities and a 'lost baggage' report was filed. Since the journey included a transfer from Turkey to Paraguay via Brazil's Sao Paolo with THY and then Goal Airlines (Star Alliance), we contacted both airlines. THY stated, 'We hand over the luggage to the transfer flight with a list, so they should check from there.' After informing Goal Airlines, they accepted responsibility and agreed to compensate us, but mentioned the process would take 21 days. During this period, THY informed us that the luggage was with them and that they would send it to Paraguay. Despite repeatedly informing them that my spouse's ticket was for May 4-18, they sent the luggage to Paraguay almost 10 days after my spouse returned to Turkey. Subsequently, they sent an email stating they had sent the luggage back to Istanbul. Finally, we received an email saying, 'Come and collect your luggage,' as if nothing had happened. Today is June 6, 2024, and despite numerous feedback and calls, THY has consistently rejected our feedback. I condemn THY, which claims to fly to the most destinations in the world, for how they mishandled our luggage and falsely accused their airline alliance partners.
