I experienced significant issues with THY on my Istanbul/Hamburg flight; there was no cancellation warning in the app, and even the office staff were unaware of the situation. Due to the complex application, constantly changing rules, and airport changes, I missed my initial flight.
From what I understand, changes were made a year ago, and flight rules changed again in March during my last ticket purchase, but I didn't make it a problem. Following the guidance of the THY agency, I went to Hamburg, and they told me I could use my return ticket. However, I even made an online seat selection for the return flight, and throughout the flight duration and afterward, I received notifications as if I had boarded the plane.
Despite explaining the situation, I waited in line for an hour. During check-in, there was an issue with seat assignment, and I was not given a boarding pass because there was no luggage check-in for the first flight. The staff said they couldn't help and offered no assistance, so I returned home the next day with another airline. THY's contract contains terms that violate consumer law. They treated the flights as connected and canceled them, even though it had no benefit to me and no burden on the company.
If you are going to cancel the return flight, inform me in advance, announce it, and don't mislead me into waiting in line for an hour, causing me to stay an extra day and face difficulties with my workplace. I do not consider the fee I paid to be justified. Never again with THY. The rules are illogical, unlawful, and contain unfair terms.
