I Experienced Significant Inconvenience Due To Turkish Airlines' Flight Delay and Lack of Communication
On 01.10.2023, my flight from Istanbul to Adana scheduled at 16:50 was delayed to 17:30. The plane arrived, and we were told to wait a bit. We waited at the gate, but then the flight was delayed to 17:45. We continued to wait because no clear information was given, and we couldn't leave the gate for fear of missing the flight. The flight was then delayed to 18:30, and even though the plane was there, they said it would depart soon. Finally, the flight was delayed to 19:30, and it eventually took off at 8 PM. I spoke to the staff with my luggage in hand and feeling ill, asking them to inform us if the flight was going to be delayed so I could sit down somewhere as I was unwell. They kept saying the flight would depart soon, and I ended up waiting for almost four hours while feeling sick and feverish. This level of disregard is unacceptable.
If there is going to be a delay, tell people so we can make arrangements instead of standing for hours. They kept misleading us at the gate, saying the flight would depart soon. They didn't even bother to send a message; they claimed they did, but I received nothing. After the flight landed at 23:45, I received delay messages one after another. Getting a message about the 16:50 delay at 23:45 is ridiculous. I have photos of all the messages and their timestamps. I've never done this before, but this time I will file a complaint—not because of the delay, but because I was made to wait for four hours while sick and holding my luggage. I arrived in Adana and then traveled to Mersin, reaching there around 1 AM.
As soon as I arrived in Mersin, I went to a medical facility and received an IV. What if I had collapsed or fainted there due to my fever? Who would be responsible? I'm sorry, but I will be filing a complaint.
