I Experienced Inconvenience Due To Turkish Airlines Staff's Attitude Towards Pets

On December 15, 2023, I decided to travel with my pet on the Istanbul-Ankara flight. Before purchasing the ticket, I called customer service at least three times to confirm whether the standard cat carrier would be allowed on the plane and received approval. After obtaining the cat's ticket and approval, I proceeded to check-in and baggage drop at the airport. The supervisor stated that the carrier would not be accepted and that the pet would need to be sent as checked baggage. Despite explaining that I had received multiple confirmations from customer service that the carrier was suitable, the gentleman mentioned a communication breakdown between them and customer service, implying that this was not an isolated issue. When I asked if I would be receiving my pet deceased due to the high risk of a heart attack if placed in checked baggage, he coldly responded, 'It's up to you.' He further added, 'You will either send it as checked baggage or purchase an appropriate carrier from the pet shop behind.' Despite explaining that the communication problem with customer service led to this situation and that it was unreasonable for us to bear the consequences, and that if they had informed us from the beginning that the carrier was not suitable, we would not have paid the price difference between the external carrier and the one here, the supervisor did not show any conciliatory approach. Even though I stated that my legal rights were on my side and his attitude was wrong, the situation did not change. When I asked for his name, he confidently and sternly provided his full name and said, 'Your legal rights are valid, and you can do whatever you want.' I still bought that carrier and took my pet with me. However, I want to state that my legal rights are reserved, and I will do my best to exercise these rights. As a matter of fact, I have already started the process.

We received a response from the institution. While they never admit their mistakes, they also found no fault with the supervisor named C*** T***, who has an attitude problem and complicates matters.
