Turkish Airlines Rejected My Refund Request
My spouse bought 3 tickets for the THY flight from Konya to Istanbul at 9:50 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2024. I purchased the THY flight from Istanbul to Antalya at 12:20 PM on the same day. These arrangements were made on January 19, the night before the flight. On the morning of January 20, I received a message informing me that our Konya-Istanbul flight was canceled due to force majeure. I immediately called THY customer service and explained that since our flight was canceled, we wouldn't be able to catch our other flight and requested a refund. Over the phone, they told me that the refund for our Konya-Istanbul flight would be processed, but for the Istanbul-Antalya flight, only a third of the ticket price would be refunded. They also mentioned that if I spoke to the counter, they could refund the full amount. I called THY customer service twice and received the same response. I went to the THY counter at Konya airport. After a long wait, they asked me to send an email through the THY website and state my complaint. I sent the email. A week later, I received a response stating that no refund would be made. When I called again, they said they couldn't refund because I didn't mention that I wouldn't be able to attend the Istanbul-Antalya flight. Why did I call THY on January 20 when the Konya-Istanbul flight was canceled? To chat? I ask you, was I supposed to teleport to Istanbul and then attend the Antalya flight? What kind of logic and information is this? You do everything you can to inconvenience people. I sent another feedback email, and I hope I won't be inconvenienced this time.
