On July 10, 2024, despite checking in and arriving at the gate on time for the 23:50 Istanbul Airport - Isparta flight, we were denied boarding by Turkish Airlines due to the gate closing early. Even though I had checked in a day before the flight, had assigned seat numbers, and arrived at the airport before departure, we were not allowed to board.
I did not receive any information about the gate closing early, and no final call announcement was made while I was at the airport. We were then directed to a change desk where we were offered another flight at much higher prices than the original ticket, which we could not afford. We had to wait for hours to retrieve our baggage and ended up staying at the airport overnight with my children, causing both financial and emotional distress.
I expect Turkish Airlines to address our grievances. Otherwise, I am considering not using Istanbul Airport and Turkish Airlines in the future.
