I purchased airline tickets through Trip.com in the name of M****** K****, paying a total of £415 by credit card. However, the flight was canceled by the airline for reasons entirely beyond my control, and I was not offered any alternative flight on the same day. As a result, my planned trip did not take place, and I suffered significant inconvenience.
Although the airline canceled the flight on January 9, 2026, I was refunded only £103, while the remaining balance was withheld by Trip.com without any legal justification. I do not accept any commission, service fee, or other deduction for transportation services that were never provided. Since the cancellation was not caused by the passenger, I believe a full refund of the amount I paid is mandatory.
Despite multiple attempts to contact Trip.com customer service, I have been unable to establish communication. Therefore, I have received neither a clear explanation nor a proper resolution. Issuing only a partial refund for a flight that never took place is, in my view, contrary to consumer protection laws, distance sales regulations, and airline passenger rights. I consider this practice to constitute unjust enrichment.
My demand is clear: I request the immediate and full refund of the remaining balance from the £415, without any deductions, for the flight that was canceled by the airline. Otherwise, I will initiate formal complaints with the relevant consumer protection authorities, begin a chargeback process through my payment provider, pursue all available legal remedies, and publicly document my experience with supporting evidence and details.
