Transavia Canceled My Flight Without Offering an Alternative

1

My Transavia flight TO 3425 from Istanbul to Lyon, scheduled for August 25, was canceled without any alternative flight being offered. I only learned about the cancellation when I arrived at Istanbul Airport and reached the check-in area, approximately three hours before the scheduled departure time. The only information I received was the word “Canceled” displayed on the airport screen.

As a result of this cancellation, I had to miss the two nights of hotel accommodation I had planned for my trip, my train tickets, my return flight, and, most importantly, a historic match that I was very unlikely to have another opportunity to experience in my lifetime. The total financial value of these losses is approximately €500–€600, and the emotional distress and disappointment caused by this situation have also been extremely significant.

Transavia did not offer me any alternative flight. I only received an email stating that my ticket fare would be refunded in the coming days. I also submitted a compensation claim, but apart from being told that my request would be “reviewed,” I have not received any concrete solution, explanation, or compensation.

I request that Transavia not simply refund the cost of my ticket, but also provide appropriate compensation for the additional expenses and losses I incurred as a direct result of the cancellation, including my hotel, train tickets, return flight, and other related costs, as well as the significant disruption and distress I experienced. I also request a clear written explanation regarding why my flight was canceled and why no alternative transportation was offered.
