Tesla Model Y Glass Roof Cracked Spontaneously Without Impact
In August 2025, while driving my Tesla Model Y in the Izmir Bornova and Çeşme regions, the glass roof suddenly cracked across its entire length without any impact, stone chip, or visible damage. There were no external factors, marks, or dents — the crack happened entirely on its own, and this is the first time I have ever experienced such an issue. My car has only 40,000 km, and for a relatively low-mileage vehicle, such a defect is unacceptable. During the summer of 2025, Izmir experienced extreme heat, and I believe the glass roof cracked due to these extraordinary weather conditions. For this reason, I request a detailed investigation into whether the issue is related to manufacturing or material defects. Our family owns two Tesla vehicles and has been a loyal customer for many years, so I expected better quality and support from the brand. After contacting Tesla’s authorized staff by phone, I was told that despite my car being only 26 months old and still under varying warranty conditions, the glass roof is not covered by warranty and only paid repairs are possible. I cannot accept this approach. My research online shows that even cars just 5–10 days old have suffered the same issue, which makes me believe this is a chronic defect in the Model Y glass roof. Tesla should provide the necessary warranty coverage and fix this issue at no cost. My license plate is 35KAC99, and I demand that this spontaneous roof crack be recognized as a manufacturing issue and repaired free of charge under warranty.
