My Name Was Used to Register a Fake Telegram Account

On September 27, 2023, at 00:26, I received a Telegram verification code on my phone. After doing some research online, I discovered that many people were creating Telegram accounts using the phone numbers of others. I immediately checked and discovered that an account in my name had been created, but no password had been set. I have no access to the account. When I attempt to delete the Telegram account using the phone number from the Telegram account deletion page online, it states that the code is sent to the device where the Telegram account is open, rather than as an SMS. Someone has opened an account with my phone number, but I am unable to delete it. I accept no responsibility for any fraudulent activities that may occur using my phone number. I want the account created with my phone number to be deleted because it was created without my permission. I would also like to be kept updated on this situation. I will publicize this problem until it is resolved.
