Sixt Düsseldorf Wrongly Charged Me €101.76 in “Penalty Processing Fees”
I rented an Opel Corsa from Sixt’s website, with pick-up and return at Düsseldorf Airport (Reservation No: 9721000250). During the rental period, in addition to traffic fines, I was unexpectedly charged a so-called “penalty processing fee” on my credit card. A total of €101.76 was deducted in three separate transactions between June 24, 2025, and July 31, 2025.
Sixt only provided me with a single document as justification, without any detailed explanation of why these fees were applied. When I contacted customer service, they simply stated that it was “according to the contract” but failed to point out the specific clause that authorized such a charge. I had assumed my fines were directly charged to my card, but later discovered that I was expected to pay the fines separately in addition to these unexplained processing fees.
I believe this practice is unfair and misleading, as it was not clearly disclosed during the rental agreement. I request a full refund of the €101.76 penalty processing fees that were charged to my card.
