Samsung 65QN800A Panel Failed Twice in Just Three Years
In May 2022, I purchased a Samsung 65QN800A 8K 65” TV from 'Vatan Bilgisayar', pushing my budget to the limit because I love watching movies and care deeply about image quality. I used the TV for just 20 months without any issues until a panel failure occurred shortly before the warranty expired. Samsung’s service team replaced the panel at home on 18.01.2024 with a brand-new, boxed panel. I say “panel,” but really, it's the main part of the TV—it felt like receiving an entirely new device. However, within 4–5 days, the same issues reappeared: a shadowy and flickering image. So, the first panel failed after 20 months, and now the second one has failed after only 18 months. I reported the issue to Samsung service again, and they confirmed another panel replacement was necessary—on 09.06.2025. But this time, there’s no warranty coverage, even for the panel that was replaced just 18 months ago, and they quoted a replacement cost of ₺65,000. Sixty-five thousand liras! And even if I pay that, there’s still no warranty, no assurance—what happens if it fails again in 15–20 months? The premium 8K Samsung TV I proudly bought just three years ago, under financial strain, is now useless. I understand the original warranty has expired, but for a global brand like Samsung, doesn’t it seem abnormal that the same critical fault occurred twice in nearly identical timeframes? To summarize: I’m deeply disappointed. The product I once used with love and pride is now a source of regret—both the joy and my money are gone.
To be honest, I don't have very high expectations from you personally. At the very least, I wanted our own citizens who are interested in your various models to act with an understanding of how things work. You also have televisions that cost 300,000 or 400,000 lira and look very nice, which those who can afford them probably buy. However, as can be clearly seen from my experience, these products are not capable of serving us for long periods like the devices we used in the past. So what are we supposed to do in this situation—buy a new television every 3 or 4 years and throw away the one we bought the year before, or pay you an amount just slightly less than the price of a new television for a panel replacement with no guarantee every time there is a problem? I don't know if it's this or that, but the product can't even last 2 years, let alone 5 years, in a healthy way.
Just now, Ms. Gül from the Samsung Solution Center called and fulfilled her duty of getting back to us. Of course, as I mentioned in my previous response, I had already understood and stated that I would not have any expectations regarding my television, which had the same malfunction twice within 5 years, with a 1.5-year interval. As I guessed, solution support Ms. Gül fulfilled her duty and stated that since the device is out of warranty, nothing can be done. She is happy now, will have some tea or coffee, while I will either pay 65,000 TL to have Samsung repair a television worth 80-90 thousand TL today—with no guarantee for their work—or pay 80-90 thousand TL again to buy a new Samsung television. And I am experiencing this even though I bought my television as recently as May 2022. Nice business: sell, make a profit; after 2 years, make a profit from service needs; if not, the customer buys a new one and you profit again. Good for you.
