Trip.com Offers Barely $8 Refund on $118 Flight Canceled Within One Hour
On the very same day, I purchased a round-trip airline ticket from Ankara to Budapest through Trip.com, covering the dates of October 16–19. I paid approximately $118 for this ticket using my credit card.
Less than an hour after purchasing the ticket, an urgent health issue regarding my sibling arose, compelling me to cancel the booking. However, when I checked the cancellation steps on the Trip.com website, I observed that out of the approximately $118 ticket price, only a tiny fraction—around $8 to $8.50—was indicated as refundable. I consider it extremely unfair and against consumer rights that almost the entire amount is subject to forfeiture despite this cancellation request being made within such a short timeframe due to an unforeseen health emergency.
I demand that Trip.com take my specific emergency situation into consideration, process the highest possible refund amount for my ticket price, and provide a fair resolution with at least a reasonable deduction.
