My Samsung Refrigerator Developed a Body Defect After Just 5 Years

June 12, 2025 10:23 PM22

I purchased a Samsung refrigerator five years ago, and it has now developed a body defect, which is unacceptable given that the average lifespan of a refrigerator is around 15 years. I contacted Samsung’s authorized service, and after their inspection, they informed me that the issue was due to a structural fault in the body. They stated the refrigerator would need to be replaced and that a quote would be provided based on the current market value—placing the burden on me, the customer.

This refrigerator has remained in the same location since the day I bought it. It has never suffered any impact or damage, and I’ve used it properly under normal household conditions. Meanwhile, friends of mine who move every few years still use Bosch refrigerators that perform as well as the day they were bought. After doing some research, I found that many Samsung customers have reported the same defect, which suggests a widespread issue.

Because of this failure, I’ve lost perishable food and have had to go days without refrigeration in the hot climate of Muğla, leading to serious financial and emotional stress. I did not misuse this product, and a refrigerator breaking down after only five years is completely unreasonable for a global brand like Samsung.

If Samsung expects customers to pay for a replacement after just five years, then I will no longer consider its products and will choose more reliable competitors in the future.

I respectfully request that Samsung take responsibility for this manufacturing fault and fully resolve my grievance in line with its reputation as a corporate brand that values customer satisfaction.

For about 2 weeks, due to a body malfunction in my Samsung refrigerator, I have been living through nightmare-like days without a refrigerator in over 40 degrees heat, stuck between the Samsung solution center and Milas Samsung Service. After 10 days, they finally told me about paid replacement models, none of which fit the space for a refrigerator or match the measurements of my previous one. I asked if maybe the service team could spare a few minutes to come and check if one of the models might work—my house is only 10 minutes away from the service center—but they even refused that. My children are about to take the university entrance exam and cannot eat properly; we have to buy food and water from outside. Even though I kept begging, explaining that I live in an extremely hot area, they made me go through this. No one should ever buy anything from this brand. If you do, you will go through what I have within 4-5 years at the latest. I will also email this to Samsung Korea and write about what I have experienced to all relevant authorities. I hope no one else has to go through this nightmare.
