Ryanair Unexpected Baggage Fees and Check-In Chaos
On February 29, 2024, our group of five flew from London Stansted to Edinburgh (PNR VPZ1RA) at 22:10 with five additional cabin bags, experiencing no issues. However, on March 1, 2024, during our Edinburgh to Dublin flight (PNR CPL8NH) at 21:20, we were suddenly charged 71.98 GBP for two allegedly non-compliant cabin bags at check-in. During boarding, we were forced to pay an additional 70 GBP for another supposedly non-compliant bag.
The situation worsened on March 2, 2024, for our Dublin to London flight (PNR TNMI6Q) at 18:00. We arrived at Dublin Airport at 15:30 for check-in, but Ryanair staff struggled with the process for 35-40 minutes, even after calling a supervisor. We were then told to check in online, but the system had closed due to the flight being less than 2 hours away. We were forced to pay 55 EUR per person, totaling 275 EUR, or risk missing our flight.
These incidents seem deliberately unfair and possibly due to inexperienced staff. Despite emailing Ryanair with my complaint, I received only a cursory response without a thorough investigation.
