2016 Model Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech Persistent Oil Consumption Issues
In September 2022, I purchased a 2016 model Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech with only 46,000 km on the odometer. Prior to the purchase, thorough checks through tramer and expert reports showed no signs of any issues. I took the vehicle to the authorized Sancelik service center in Bursa for a general maintenance service, including oil and filter replacement. However, after driving approximately 3500 km, the low oil level warning started appearing. Upon returning to the service center, I received a dismissive response, claiming that these cars with 1.2 three-cylinder engines tend to consume a bit of oil, and they added 1.5 liters of oil. If the car is consuming 1.5 liters of oil every 3500 km, there should be no need for an oil change every 15,000 km, as the user would have already topped up the oil before the scheduled change. After topping up the oil, within 2000 km, the low oil warning resurfaced, forcing me to add another liter of oil to avoid damaging the engine. Through my research, I discovered that many users have faced similar issues, indicating a problem with the engine in this particular series of vehicles. Even within the warranty period, Peugeot refuses to acknowledge the problem, instead suggesting costly revisions or complete engine replacements at the owner's expense. Having owned vehicles from various brands for the past 25 years, I have never encountered such excessive oil consumption in a vehicle with similar mileage. If even the service center considers this oil consumption normal, it raises serious concerns. This being my first experience with a Peugeot vehicle, I deeply regret my decision.
