Serious Engine Defect in 2020 Peugeot 3008 - A Customer's Appeal
Dear Peugeot Customer Service, I have been a loyal and satisfied Peugeot customer for many years, often recommending your brand to those around me. I currently own a 2020 Peugeot 3008 with the 1.2 PureTech engine, and since the date of purchase, all scheduled maintenance has been performed exclusively at authorized Peugeot service centers. In the first week of May, I received a “Check oil level” warning when starting the vehicle, so I took it to two different authorized service centers—one in Istanbul and one in Ordu. After thorough inspections, I was informed that the engine was consuming oil due to an issue with the third piston, and I was advised that the entire engine needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of ₺250,000 to ₺300,000. This was disappointing, especially considering the vehicle has only 67,000 kilometers and has been meticulously maintained according to schedule. It is unacceptable for a modern engine to require complete replacement at such low mileage when all services have been properly carried out. Upon further research, I discovered that this is a well-known and recurring issue, not only in Turkey but also in several European countries, suggesting a potential design flaw or manufacturing defect. As a dedicated customer who had been considering purchasing the latest version of the 3008, I truly expected a more constructive and supportive response from Peugeot. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to reconsider any future purchases from the PSA group. I kindly urge you to take this matter seriously and provide a fair, customer-oriented resolution.
